Josquin and the Lost Generation - CD Release Concert
Celebrate the release of the first CD from Vox!
The CD features music from one of Vox’s most successful concerts to
date: “Josquin and the Lost Generation”, an exploration of the music of the
master Josquin as well as the generation of composers who flourished after his
death. Featuring the rich polyphony
of the six-voice Requiem of Jean Richafort, an unjustly neglected work that was
composed for the death of Josquin. Don’t
miss this first chance to purchase Vox’s new CD.
A pre-concert lecture will be given by Univ. of Michigan
musicologist, Stefano Mengozzi. Mark
your calendars now for this special event.
This
concert and the recording are made possible, in part, by a grant from Pfizer
Global Research and Development, Ann Arbor.
General admission tickets $5, available at the
door. Ann Arbor area students are admitted FREE with a valid school ID.

Miserere:
Lenten Music from the Sistine Chapel
Renaissance music from the Sistine Chapel is
often regarded as the culmination of this art form, and even serves as the
origin of the term "a cappella".
In this program, we explore the beautiful sounds of 16th and 17th century
Lenten music from the Sistine Chapel. Featured
is the famous Miserere by Allegri in both its commonly-performed version (which
actually stems from a 19th-century transcription) as well as the rarely-heard
original version by Allegri, as recreated from original Vatican sources.
Tickets $18 / $12 Seniors /$5 students. Tickets available at the door on the evening of the performance.

Lux
Aeterna:
Franco-Flemish Music of Remembrance
This concert features an exciting collaboration between the men of Vox and the
men of the nationally-acclaimed Rose
Ensemble (Minneapolis). The
twelve-voice male ensemble will explore the rich sonorities of polyphony from the
famous Franco-Flemish school. The
unique combination of singers assembled for this program enables us to present
the Requiem by Pierre de la Rue, a remarkable work written at such a low pitch
that modern scholars have called it “unperformable”.
The
performance will include a pre-concert lecture by Dr. Honey Meconi, arguably the
leading scholar in the works of Pierre de La Rue, including specifically the
Requiem. This collaborative endeavor will be a highlight of the season; buy your
tickets today!
Tickets $18 / $12 Seniors /$5 students. Tickets available at the door on the evening of the performance.
